RE: Normandy (6 June-19 August) AAR
8 June. 22.00 (Allied turn) 8316 VP. Allies Major Defeat.

VII Corp (Caretan to Valognes)
Inland advances show a line from Fontenay Sur Mer, Valognes, Colomby, Etienville to Carentan. Also make make contact with V Corp at Auville.

82th ABD slowly advancing against 91th Luftlande. 2km far from Colomby. St Sauveur bridge blown.
101th ABD attacking Carentan. By 12 .00 Carentan is isolated. Carentan taken by 20.00
4th ID Montenburg taken by 10.00. Valognes 3km far.
90th ID: moving to front lines.

V Corp: (From Isigny sur Mer to Bayeux)
The last bunker at Omaha was taken by 14.00 assaulted by combined elements of V Corp. Closing to St Clair Sur L’elle (Lison, Le Molay-Littry and Crouay taken)
Isigny sur Mer taken by 16.00.
Rangers played a great role: they lock the encirclement of Omaha and hold any breakthrough attempt.
Also Port en Bensin and Escure reached, only two km far from British troops.

1st ID Vierville strongpoint taken by 12.00.
2nd ID help in Vierville fighting.
29th ID concentrated AT fire from 29th and 1st IDs break resistance at Vierville bunkers.

30th Corp (From Bayeux to Evrecy)
Drawing a line from Bayeux, Tilly sur Seuelles, Rauray, Granville to Mouen.
Panzer Lehr division made sharp attacks against 50th ID but they hold their ground (helped by PaKfronts like)

79th ArD pushing and encircling beyond Caen remanents of german 352th ID. Joined Port en Bessin fight.
50th ID: Fontenay strong points taken aided by armor from 8th ArB. Cheu and St Manieau reached.
8th ArB takes Tilly Sur Seuelles by 16.00
22th ArB (Desert Rats) from 7th ArD pushing beyond Caen remanents of german 352th ID. After some mopping they left to unknow destination to enemy.
4th ArB movements unknown to enemy

2nd Canadian Corp (Caen area)
Panzer Lehr division made sharp attacks against 2nd Canadian ID but they hold their ground (helped by PaKfronts like)

2nd Canadian ArB: Crossed Caen bridge near Cormelles. Fighting against 12th SS PzD.
3rd Canadian ID: west of Caen, clashing against 21th PzD. Caen Airfield taken bt 12.00

1st Corp (Orne-Canal de Caen area)
The heavy fighting area of whole invasion without discussion, little terrain gains, great casualties for both sides.

27th ArB: by morning lights clashed with 12th SS tanks around Demouvlle all day long
1st and 4th SSB: atacking the Steelworks.
3rd ID: fighting around Touffreville against PG’s of 12th SS and 21st PzD
6th ABD: After a brief resting, they joined to Toufreville attack.
51th ID:Moving to front lines.

Douvres pocked eliminated.

Two notable facts makes this day a great day for Allied forces:
V, VII, 30th and 1st Corp are united (only Port en Bessin and Comme’s bunker holds, the last two german strong points). Allied are a continuous area between Mortenburg to Caen.
Casualties of landing, parachuting, Omaha and general fighting are far inferior than inflicted upon Axis, thous Allied has 8000 VP due location and a total of 8316 VP
