The German counterattack was devastating. Last turn I had two choices; either defend the hill top and wait for further reinforcements or go for broke in order to break the stalemate. In the face of devastating losses and at a disadvantage in numbers I ordered the assault to continue thinking that the Motherland could produce T-34s faster than the Fascists could replace Panther and Tiger tanks.
I ordered the two different wings to concentrate south of the hill and attempt to surround the enemy panzers that were taking advantage of the paved road and cover provided by the trees. The enemy was waiting and our initial assault elements had to endure heavy fire. Follow on waves finally were able to engage and around this time help arrived from the opposite direction.
Lot's of confusion and at least 10 destroyed Panthers and 3 PZ-IVs. At least 10 Panthers remain and some infantry......
