Okay I whipped out the CD-Rom drive and fitted the DVD drive in its place and it works fine, I'm getting quite good at messing with hardware; it only takes me 45 minutes to wrestle the PC case off nowadays..
Am now psyching myself up to have a shot at burning at a later date..
