Von Luck Wrote:Nope ive had the same prob Earl on 1 or 2 occasians then you get the prob of PC locks half way through a turn with some newer scenarios frustrating to say the least when it's a large scenario.Smaller scenarios i dont see the point of saving every 4 moves ect but large ones yes.40 minutes playing 2/3rds of a large scenario and something goes wrong yep ill save it quite a lot.

Next time it happens go here: Start Menu\Control Panel\Administrative Tools and open the event viewer. On the left will be choices for different logs, (application, security, system...) Click on a log and check the entries on the right. There should be an entry corresponding to the time your game bombed. Double click the entry. Then click the link that will take you to Microsoft's site which, every now and then, will actually tell you what caused it (or at least give you a clue).

The error that's happening to you guys is way too generic to troubleshoot. If it's happening well into large scenarios, I'd hazard a guess that it's memory related. Not enough RAM (or bad RAM if it happens in other apps), page file too small, not enough room left on your hard drive. Then again, it could be caused by corrupt files; corruption often occurs from files that were open when a bomb occurred. Reinstalling the game might fix things and is probably the easiest thing to try.

Could also be hardware related, but if it only happens when playing this game, then probably not. If you both have the same type of video card, though, then that might be an issue. Still, I doubt it.

Wish I could be of more help.

Older computer guys will readily understand multiple saving. Control-S is ingrained in our souls. No one I work with lets five minutes go by without a save. Too many times having worked on a graphic for hours when the power went out or the old Mac bombed not to have learned that lesson.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
