Crimea small? it has 26200 square kilometres... i think that it is big enough to represent it....
Static? i don't think so, it's true that there were few tanks and that it was, at least in the 1942 battle, an infantry war, but considering that the campaign started in 18-28 october and ended in 10-21 of November (with the fall of Sevastopol, among other important cities) i would not consider it static...
And if they do that map, always can be done a mod to cover the russian counter attack on 1944

What about Asia, then ? Obviously enough the vast majority of Allies vs Japanese operations would not fit as well but there may be some exceptions, like the reoccupation of Burma in 44/45 ?
Well, about Asian theatre, comes to mind that Meiktila 1945, Okinawa 1945 and Manchuria 1945 are the most suitable battles to be represented.
