Does rotating your units cause them to become spotted?

I dig in a lot. Every time I hit the shovel button on some well hidden bunch of engineers,the world opens up on them.

This opens up another question. Hit the shovel and if they can be spotted, they are, but what happens if nothing is in their LOS. Does a unit digging in become spotted by units that move into their LOS on subsequent turns, or are we back to a die roll?
