RE: Korsun '44 ALT anyone?
Hi Sch,

Just a quick note. If you are looking at the 0125 Campaign and would be interested to play the latest (unreleased) version let me know.

The key changes are :

  1. Partisan effects watered down
  2. Variable start for some of the Russian 21st Corp in 2nd Ukraine Front
  3. Improvements to defenses in the German 72nd Infantry Division Sector
  4. Recommended use of the alternate artillery rule
  5. Changes to some of the German morale levels

We were finding that the Russians were now achieving a breakthrough too quickly and essentially were in a position to wipe out both the 72nd and 389th Infantry Divisions. The above changes moves the Soviets back to a more reasonable tempo.

We are actively testing the alternate artillery rule. This doubles the artillery's factors and fires once hitting all units in a hex. We were worried that the Russian player could mass his troops with impunity and could assault using a whole division (3 regimental stacks) against a single German hex. The alternate artillery rule now makes this prohibitive and Soviet casualties are now exceeding the Germans. Its now important to probe forward with single battalions and once a bunker is disrupted by artillery / tank fire move the infantry forward. Of interest the small German atillery units are now very effective...

Anyway the released V3 is perfectly fine, but if you want the latest drop me a note...

David
