You just made a grown man cry!
For me, the longest and hardest part of putting together a scenario are the briefings. I know this is true for other scenario designers :hissy:
You need horse whipping!
It takes me 15 - 30 minutes to write a briefing, including editing time and adding play test credits.
The scenario map averages ten hours including initial draft for testing, then modifications, detailing and fixes due to the CM engine making elevation changes. The OBs takes me from two to twenty hours from draft to final changes and modifications. That includes arrival schedules and location(s) of ground, air and naval assets i.e. "Patton's Gambit" scenario.
Lots of time, thinking scenario when driving, eating and in my dreams I'm fighting the battle...scenario. It gets intimate and quite personal recreating/designing scenarios.
My design philosophy is to focus on the battle. Where other scenarios suck up time with big maps for movement/maneuver.
I prefer immediate action or contact within first two turns.
The set up is critical, attention must be paid to the Briefing and the battlefield.
Tactical skill is vital, but in my scenarios, if you screw up the set up you'll either get killed by the enemy or your own men.
