Boisforas and I have just started this, with the designer's recommended optional rules. I'm axis, Eric allies.

My first thought after turn one: Axis has the initial advantage, dug in and bunkered behind tank traps and mine fields, so a painful approach for the Russians, especially with extreme assualt. I'm concerned, however, if/when they break through (and I assume they will at some point). I'm hoping to score enough SP's in the early going, then shore up the breakthrough points with secondary lines of defense...but the Finns secondary lines of defense might prove problematic against a charging red horde.

Map looks good and I like what I've been given. Dislikes: fixed units, not many; though; and I never like not being able to set my own op fire for the first turn (axis goes second, so op-fire is set by the designer). Other than those two small things, initially, looks good!

Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
