RE: Noob looking for a game & advice
Welcome to the Blitz!
First, as mentioned, read the Rules of Engagement.
Second, notice the box in the upper right of your browser. It should say "Welcome cwhouston" if you're logged in. Otherwise it will say "Guest". If "Guest", then login.
Under your name and the current time is a link for your control panel. Click that. You'll see six main level options on that page and you should explore all of them. You'll find areas for uploading files and picture, for changing your email, username, password, etc; and at the bottom a link that says "Blitz".
Click the Blitz link then General Options on the popout and the first section displays the ladders that you'd like to be on. After choosing, make sure you click on the "Update Options" button at the bottom of that page.
Further help on any control panel subject can be found by clicking the "Help" button in the same upper right box where your login is.
Don't hesitate to ask anyone on the CS ladder to give you a hand.
The fun of wargaming is PBEM, but there's nothing against being a member of the Blitz and not participating in that arena. I'd recommend picking up a copy of JTCS at matrixgames.com and asking a member here to give you a get-out-of-bootcamp game. Many veteran players will agree to give you a draw while they teach you the ropes, or you can find another new player and let the chips fall.
Again, welcome to the Blitz!
Dave
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
