A couple noob questions if I may

Greetings Everybody,
I joined the blitz because of squad battles but began to develop a touch of the "Hey I might like that, or that one looks like fun."
not long afterwards. This led me to the purchase of Midway which I like but am very much still in learning mode with, and Middlle East67', hung jury. Retrial date yet TBD.
I enjoyed the AH Civil War games I used to play long ago and now, CK2 has helped rekindle my interest in this war once again. While I would like to buy one or two I would like to make better informed choices with these than I did on the two I mentioned prior. If some of you could share some of your insight with me I would really appreciate it. Thank You. Phil aka Dog829

1) Of the titles available to choose from are some better than others for playability, game balance , those new to the series.
2) What titles do you prefer and why?
3) Are the most recent say two or three games better then those that came out at the beginning?
