Battle of Saipan - Rare Color Film
Gents: :smoke:

The Battle of Saipan (June 15 - July 9, 1944) was one of the decisive battles in the Pacific... and was infamous for the largest Banzai charge of the War... 4,300 Japanese troops were killed in this final Banzai... and over 22,000 civilians died during the course of the battle (mostly suicides).

I chose the title of my Rising Sun scenario - "Sorrow on Saipan" to pay homage to the soldiers who fought and died on this island in the Mariana chain.

I also wanted to design a scenario that depicted a lesser known battle... but was of no less importance to the soldiers who fought for control of Hill 500 on that sunny morning on June 20, 1944.

I hope I have succeeded in both endeavors.

Here is a rare, color film (9 minutes) of the Battle of Saipan.
