Another simple fix that comes to mind: tanks in the woods (and similar type of terrain) should deploy, go back to travel mod and assault (with severe penalty) at the cost of full movement cost. This way they can only provide fire support in column and along the road, otherwise valuable time is lost. A meticulously planned and built forest roadblock have fulfilled its task.
