Version 1.04 changes questions

successfully downloaded Version 1.04 and installed. WOW, rules are very different. In the prior and earlier versions of EF, once a unit fired, it was spotted. In this version, really doesnt seem to be the case. In looking over the manual, I could not find what the new optional rules mean nor a discussion of the 1.04 spotting determination rules.

Can you point me to the right place for more explanation? I also have no clue as to what extreme assault is.
