RE: Technical problem
I have had that problem in Linux. When the file gets copied, it doesn't always re-write it. Sometimes it will rename it. Ex: PBEM014.dat to PBEM014(1).dat
I probably have something set wrong. My Fix is the old dos fix of using the rename file function to rename the file. The old one becomes PBEM014(B).dat and the new one becomes PBEM014.dat
In my case it is because I do the Web on a Linux box and use a KVM switch to play the games. I play on a windows box running 98Pro. My file path runs through /program/ but that isn't a biggie.
Every OS I have ever heard of has some sort of rename command. 'ell back before there were OS's and you told a computer what to do with a Hollerith Deck (punch cards) files still had to be named and renamed.
