RE: Deception Units?
Yest , that is exactly how it works acording to what I can remember from theoretical studies ending with my own experience. They first appeared in the Bulge '4 title itself as a matter of fact to model Skorzenny's plans of sabotage and disruptive operations in disguise ( against the Geneva convntion, but the Nazi didn't care about such thing either way ... ) in the enemy rear. There is a varaiable inbuilt in the scenario which employs a few factors to estimate the chances of a deception units being dicovered while on a mission already. I think that patrolling value has something to do, but I am not sure. Once their cover blown they're deemed either destroyed or captured and their mission compromised and terminated for good. That way the're removed completely with no stagglers and the like. Once they're deployed only the OpFor will learn about their failure to carry on with their mission - unless the friendly side keeps the track of the red question marks on the map and their designations. Personally I have even found that trying to browse the respective game interface dialog window is difficult or even impossible if there are too many of them on a mission simultaneously. I have lost many a SpetsNaz team in west Germany or Austria during the Warsaw Pact operations so I guess I have learnt virtually everything about that on the job the hard way.
