The German High Command was convinced that the British wanted to make peace after the capitulation of France. However, this proved to be a mistake, and Hitler now planned an invasion of England, Operation Sea Lion. The Germans were gathering a fleet of steamers and promenades in the canal ports, which had been hastily converted into DropShips. On 19 August 1940, under the supreme command, Colonel-General von Rundstedt started "The Operation Sea Lion"
