If you turn offthe OnMapResults it will stop at each action and shows a report, maybe that works for you.

I havent tested it but maybe the replay stops if put the game into background by switching to another program in Windows.

your first suggestion may be a good one if you can switch between the two settings during the replay... will have to give that one a try. 
actually its a good suggestion whether or not it works but id rather be able to watch it do its thing w/o having to click the mouse each time if i could avoid it.

the second im doubting but will also try...
