Will a unit really check every time it takes a single casualty? No difference wether a 700 men unit suffers 1 casualty or a 50 men unit suffers 25 casualties?

This will lead to shooting units one by one and not concentrating fire on one unit, so all units with a single casualty will have to check morale.

This seems very gamey.

I believe the math always applies:  "When a unit suffers casualties due to combat Morale Checks may be
applicable. This is determined based on a probability using the given loss as: loss / (loss + 25)"

So shooting many times at a unit and inflicting a 1 man loss would give you several poor chances at a disruption or rout, whereas concentrated fire, increasing casualties, will give you less but better chances.
