A few days away...This is a discussion thread for the mod to be released imminently.

A grand campaign mod for AE

Low Tech start – High tech finish. Get to grips with the worst equipment before you can play with the best.

Strongly recommended for realistic research and development. Play tested under two day game turns. One year in preparation.



Please dive in with questions, hopes, and fears, we are listening.
If a new neat idea fits we could consider to add its not too late.

A few openers -

What's it based on? – RA 8.0 was the base, but it massively changed over time, nothing like 1.1, chosen because I/ we have played that for about 4 years of game time; we know the good, bad and ugly- mostly the good.

What's the setup? - Britain is better prepared, America is more surprised. Japan is seizing an opportunity but is not properly ready itself and has few very modern aircraft at the start.

What about Navy production for Japan? You can build a completely bespoke Navy. Choose the direction of build yourself. Build interim CVL in 42 (maybe instead of powerful surface units) or skip an risk waiting until 43 for better CV sooner. Allied Navy arrives sooner and with more power than historical.

What about aircraft load-outs? - we have added as many as needed to make the game more interesting. Particular emphasis has been placed on patrol aircraft with depth charges. Trying to make realistic operations workable. ASM - yes a few late war, rockets - yes, realistic CV placement of aircraft - yes ( optional rule). Hypothetical but considered variants of aircraft - yes.

What about research and development? This mod is designed for realistic research and development only (some very powerful aircraft arrive late in the war on both sides). But if you want to give Japan a supreme advantage, then you may untick. engines are allowed for research and development as some arrive after the aircraft requires them.

Will I able to tackle the 4E Bomber menace? - Yes probably, or reduce it on the homeland with the right decisions early enough.

What about the minor nations? - France has a bigger presence, but it is generally fixed (early war) to defensive bases. Dutch and Australian forces are slightly enhanced. Britain/ Commonwealth is significantly enhanced. Thailand is present with Air Force and Navy and revised land forces.

What about Monsun Grupee? We have added a comprehensive order of battle for these guys including Captains, surface units, a significant number of U Boats (Italian Boats too that convert to SST), including type XX1 late war, and a couple of U boat aces. A few aircraft too… MG, operates from designated and historical bases (optional). No longer will the Indian Ocean be completely safe.

What about China? China should be a thorn in the side of Japan throughout the game. They are significantly enhanced, including significant partisan forces.

What about attacks on more than one port at the beginning of the game? You are welcome to attack any. There are also three carriers in PH at the start!

Will there be another? - No this has been a killer:) But it will be supported ongoing. I will enjoy others mods, doing this has shown me how much work some guys are doing in the community.
