Roman Civil Wars: noob questions

Just bought "Roman Civil Wars" from HPS. The game looks great and with some very cool mechanics. Just a couple of initial questions:

1. TacAI --- what does this do? Should it be turned on?
2. There's an info box in the middle of my screen the whole time ("assigning orders..."), which I find a bit annoying. Should it be there all the time? Is there any way to hide/remove it?

Hah, just found it - TacAI or rather 'Use Tactical AI' on the menu - Options pop down box at the bottom. I have checked the manuals and then the code. I had introduced the name tag but not developed a routine for that option. Unfortunately it has been a while since I worked on this code. So, I no longer recollect what I had in mind. For the player, this option does nothing whether it is ticked or not.
Looking at the other games in the Ancient Warfare series I do not see this option.
