RE: 1914 Valour - FWWC Tournament Round 1
In lieu of the number of members already dropping out and considering that real life considerations like family, work, health holidays, and assorted emergencies take precedence for most people over gaming, I suggest abandoning the concept of commitment. While it sounds wonderful, I have been in a number of tournaments and in most of them there have been circumstances challenging the commitment of participants that then lead to a series of extensions which in my mind are more frustrating than having laxer more realistic rules. Also the object for me and I presume others is fun, which will not be the case for someone feeling pressured to get out a turn. The old norm of three days for a player to complete a move seemed right and still many players including myself had interruptions. My health hasn't been bad in the last couple of years but one good flu and I out for at least a week if not hospitalized.
And what is the purpose? My thoughts were that the positive of these tournaments was that players were being encouraged to play again thus reversing the trend which saw a decline in the activity in the club. Why is the club pushing for time commitments that discourage play? Sounds counter-productive.
