My thoughts were that the positive of these tournaments was that players were being encouraged to play again thus reversing the trend which saw a decline in the activity in the club. Why is the club pushing for time commitments that discourage play? Sounds counter-productive.
Of course running a Tourney is supposed to be a fun experience and not a chore, however because everyone has different amounts of gaming time available it is very tough to get the turn rate comfortable for everyone, I have seen Tourneys in the past fail because a number of participants get frustrated with the lack of progress of other players and drop out for that reason, so without seeming to crack a whip we try to keep things moving as best we can.
Of course there will be times in everyone’s life when an issue like illness gets in the way of our hobby, but as long as the person can let their opponent and the guy running the Tourney know I am sure that rounds game can be rescheduled so it can be finished.
