I am currently in France for my vacation visiting my parents. And yesterday we watched with my father Saving Private Ryan on the TV.

I remember when I was a child always watching The longest day (which I prefere to SPR for the celebration of D day) on that day.

The last survivor of the French commando (cdo Kieffer) Maurice Chauvet died a few weeks ago.

For us French, D day, or Jour J as we call it, is the first day of Liberation.
