I tried to update a squad battles game using 2 different Windows 8 methods:
1. Exclusively via the "Metro" touchscreen UI.
2. Exlusively via the traditional Desktop.
What I found was that when trying to execute the update via the Metro touch UI that it was wonky and basically failed (I call it a touch UI but I use a mouse too as I have no touch screen).
When I tried it using just the normal desktop that we all know and love it worked fine.
If you are in the Metro UI there is a little box there that says "Desktop". Clicking on that that will drop you to the familiar windows desktop (minus the start button though).
I have been attempting to do this update from the Desktop, it hasn't worked.
Hmmm....I tried re-installing Winzip and we all know how that went (does anything work as advertised anymore?).
Back to the drawing board.
I love Windows 8
Okay, I got it done and updated.
1. The update must be done from Desktop. I didn't try it any other way, but it is logical and IW found
2. Windows extract feature didn't work.
3. I did it AFTER I re-installed Winzip.
Thus, Winzip was the way to update the game on Windows 8.
