RE: Indragnir's mods: News, files, updates, teasers, bug fixing and ramblings.
Today I post an excerpt of the Budapest notes document. It brings the troublesome Lull (from 12 January to the morning of 18 January) in Konrad I & II operation area that allowed transferring of IV.SS-PzKorps (and 3rd Panzer Division) to the Konrad III area of operations.
Also included are the House Rules needed to implement the special situations on this battle.
If you have any doubt on the meaning or limits of the following House Rules, please let me know.
The Lull
From 06.00 12 January until 06.00 18 January both sides stopped any offensive in Konrad operation area but for artillery firing and airstrikes south of Danube. This marks the end of Konrad I and Konrad II operations. The Germans couldn't advance any further on the hilly terrain and the Russians were really bloodied. Both sides needed a rest.
In that time, both SS Divisions and 3rd Panzer Division were sent to South in preparation of final Konrad III operation while the rest of IV SS-PzK were holding the front. The Germans replenished their forces as much as they could. Lots of new formations arrived.
Russians used that time to further reduce Budapest garrison and replenish forces.
Both sides keep pressing north of Danube (Komarom battle)
(See House Rule 3, page 3)
House Rules
Note: North or South of Danube is always referred to the Komárom-Esztergom Danube course, not Budapest Danube one.
1-Transferring of forces. (North and South of Danube.)
The only units that can be sent from or to North and South of Danube are: Axis Szent Laszlo Division and Axis Pz.Abt.208 (Pz.Abt.208 starts the game at Konrad area, then is withdrawn and shown as reinforcement in Komarom area.) They can be transferred only after 23 January when Komarom battle ends. No other unit in the South Danube-Konrad area can be sent to North Danube-Komarom area or viceversa with the exceptions of:
1-German 96th VGD. They start the game North of Danube but they fought always South of Danube. They must cross South and never be back on North Danube.
2-Tanks from 46th GTB/6th GTA they appear as reinforcement to Budapest Group.
2-Exhausted and bloodied (North of Danube-Komaron area)
From 06.00 23 January both sides in the North of Danube-Komarom area will be fixed and they can only use indirect fire and airstrikes against enemy units, thus no direct fire or assault can target enemy units.
3-The lull (South of Danube-Kornad area, Budapest battle area is NOT included)
From 12 January until 06.00 18 January, units in the south of Danube-Konrad area can only use indirect fire and airstrikes against enemy units, thus no direct fire or assault can target enemy units.
NEITHER SIDE CAN ADVANCE FORWARD from the farthest advance line – the frontline – (EAST for Axis, WEST for Soviet) achieved by either side by 06.00 January 12th. Reposition of units: moving back, north and south, is possible and it's intended for SS-Divisions + 3rd Panzer Division to redeploy for Konrad III.
Axis player must obey House rule 1 (no transferring of forces to North of Danube) while redeploying that forces.
Notice both Recovery and Replacements only works if the units have not moved.

Budapest mod is finished... but not playable yet. It's all done bar VP values and Victory levels, as I said I'll wait until LVP patch is ready.
Just re-checking the whole thing before releasing the Interim version of this monster.
Notes doc. has 46 pages without bibliography...
Next stop... Tunisia!
This the (updated) area of Italian-German army near holding Monty's 8th Army near Enfidaville.

Of course.
Check the link for all files. All art from Budapest 45 is included since the mod peaked at almost 120 new art pics.
Notice there is a checker scenario that parades all units in the mod.

Today I post about Tunisia'43 The End in Africa GC Axis OOB. It's not finished yet, not even values but it's closing.
In the notes I said there's no point listing the changes over Stock/Alt because it's whole new OOB. You can notice even without entering into sub-divisional/KG level for details.

What triggered this complete revamp?

From the notes:
Stock OOB was based upon a mid February detalied report on Axis OOB pre-Kasserine Pass, but during those 2 long months, attrocious casualties were sustained by both Axis armies: from the multiple battles of 1st Army and the US II Corps [Offensive of 26 February, Medénine, Maknassy, Foundouk, Gabés, Wadi Akkarit, El Guettar], to the incredible retreat from the Alamein to the Mareth line and the terrible battles around Enfidaville-Takrouna.
Axis forces by 23 April had little resemblance to those from February, not only in strength or relative numbers. They were forced to dissolve a lot of formations to somewhat replenish others (999 Afrika, Centauro division, just to mention some.) They were canibalizing units, reagroupping assets (Rgt.Lodi with all italian armored cars plus mobile elements, Panzer Brigade Irkens that's why 10th Panzer Division is shown with 175 vehicles just gathering 95% of all available tanks, artillery...)
As a side note, this OOB was created in good part thanks to the Verluste Afrika. Meldungen über vorhand. Einheiten und Reste, a document from July 1943 that detailed all German units lost in “Tunisgrad” and the invaluable help of italian researchers using primary sources on Italian archives (specially Maurizio, thank you truly.)

The End in Africa is almost done!
I think it's reasonable expecting a release at the end of the month.
With victory locations. There a lot to make both sides fight for every inch of advantageous terrain as they did in their historical locations.
Without victory locations.
Out of map are Allied reinforcements: 7th Armoured Division, 4th Indian Infantry Division and 201st Guards Infantry Brigade. Sent from the reserve of 8th Army, they arrived by 2 May to V Corps/1st Army area.
