RE: 1914 Valour - FWWC Tournament Round 1
I also think a slower pace but consistency rules is a good balance. These games take a damn long time, especially the larger (and, imo, better) scenarios, so might as well enjoy the ride.

I think that, especially because they're tourney rounds, the players should be able to play at their best. Turnaround is a thing, but should definitely take second place to quality of play (and of fun).

RE: 1914 Valour - FWWC Tournament Round 1
Organizing these tournament is a learning experience. I forgot my standards.
The standard was established in previous tournaments. The length of each round, i.e., the total number of days for both sides to complete the game, is 3 times the number of turns in the scenario plus 10 days. The length of the Round 1 scenario is 13 turns; so 13 * 3 days + 10 days = 49 days. I think this formula is the proper balance of having a FUN schedule and maximizing the number of rounds that can be scheduled in a year.
I have come up with a FWWC scenario selection for 6 rounds with the following schedule:
Tournament Start: Wednesday, January 1, 2025 0000PST
Round 1 Start: Wednesday, January 1, 2025 0000PST
Round 2 Start: Thursday, February 20, 2025 0000PST
Round 3 Start: Monday, April 14, 2025 0000PST
Round 4 Start: Monday, June 30, 2025 0000PST
Round 5 Start: Saturday, September 6, 2025 0000PST
Round 6 Start: Saturday, November 22, 2025 0000PST
Tournament End: Saturday, January 24, 2026 2359PST
I am not divulging the scenarios to add suspense.
I trust this is acceptable for all. Post here if you have concerns. For those that indicated they were were dropping out please post here whether this schedule will work for you.
I'll go ahead with creating a new thread, the thread's name ends in VERSION 2.0. This thread contains new Round 1 details, and pairings assuming all of the original entrants, including those that previously posted they were dropping out.
Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!

****Due to some dropouts, Updated Pairings to be posted shortly***** .
A reminder that this tournament is a commitment. There will only be 2 days between rounds, and 2 days for both sides to complete a turn. Given the planned scenarios, this tournament requires continuous playing into December of 2025.

Round 1 Pairings
When your game is complete please post in this thread the handles of the pairings and First Side score.
The men struggled forward under a blazing sun through thick undergrowth, taking almost all day to reach the high ground around the town of Ljesnica, barely 2 miles (3km) east of the river. Before them lay the mass of Mount Cer, which would prove to be the decisive battlefield of the campaign.
Prit Buttar, Collision of Empires, pg. 290, Osprey Publishing, Oxford UK, 2014 are you sure the software is Serbia 4.051 not France 14 4.051 ? ...

The initial scenario was changed to a scenario from France '14, this thread is no longer accurate.
