France '14 update 1.06 now available!

Basically:

A) I wasn't venting any frustration, I was searching for community feedback to make the most of the thing called "collective intelligence" which is the basis for - let's say - brainstorming among a few other things. The results are often of mixed quality as the source of that itself - the Internet in general that is.

B) Being still far from complaining, I like things being fast and easy on most occasions - so far there hadn't been any problem with that; first the JTS version of a current update, then the HPS one. I still remember the times there had been only the HPS - that's also my fault and a defciency?

C ) I once had an unpleasant chat with a "customer service specialist". He asked me why do I evaluate. I said because I am a customer. Not a businessman and I don't care what the "business" expects of me.

D ) The question about being a member of the "staff" was actually a rhetoric one since you're visibly biased and showing symptoms of developing a corporate mentality. Using the key words like "frustration", "complaint" and assigning an ostensibly negative meanings is a defence strategy meaning that my interlocutor has chosen his sides an opposing one whereas there was no attack at all.

E ) Whereas knowing Rich's whereabouts and the like probably helps - but I still don't care; there is a difference between the HPS and the JTS versions and we don't have the previous one available. Those are all of the fact I care about.

I was communicating with community to seek feedback and providing the details that are called "discursive framework" - that's my way of "doing business"; asking intelligent people questions, thinking they may be wiser and know better than me. Now you can choose your side again. Having all that said, I still respect the support you provided, Rich has answered and wants me to come up with a proof of purchase - now I have to dig my e-mail account a few years back and that's what I don't like. Funny thing they hadn't needed that before.

You see I like when the life gets easier and not more complicated. Thank you.

I want to clarify something that I wrote earlier- I am independently contracted with JTS - and as such all I ever provide is unofficial information - if anyone requires official information the only place to find that is through the support email address at either HPS or JTS.

Hey trauth116 - thanks to your feedback I got my F'14 updated to 1.06 so I am honestly grateful for that - or it looks like since all it took was applying the JTS update and getting their serial no. Does that mean that digitally and in the terms of the code there is no real difference between those two pieces of software  and it's really all the same? I guess that the correct conclusion one can draw.

Anyway, since you have dared to cross my path and that meant war so let me challenge you - choose either F'14 or EP '14, then scenario and I''ll choose sides or the other way round and  let's settle the things between you and me once and for all, this forum is to small for both of us so someone has to draw the line. Being an aristocrat by no means, I think the situation calls for a decisive duel.
Or to put it the other way - people used to smoke the piece pipe, I don't smoke at all so let's start a war for peace.

It would be nice if we see the explanations for this patch(Resources changes) and also for 1.05 listed in the notes pdf, unfortunately after Patch 1.04 the pdf hasn't got any more changes listed and so the player is clueless what these patches changed, that is especially bad because if things like a house rule are mentioned just in this thread it's likely going to be missed by a lot players.
Besides the benefits to gameplay when listing the complete changes it's also a sales benefit, if the interested persons can download the notes file and see that every patch brought a lot improvements beyond pure changes to the engine it simply makes them confident that buying this game also buys them continuing support.

Now I think one thing was missed, if I'm not wrong the Rail Capacity values have changed. For the early phase Entente goes from 23 to 24 and CP from 17 to 6, for the late phase Entente goes from 12 to 6 and CP from 9 to 6. Any explanation for this?

Does there need to be an explanation? Quite simply, the rail capacity was felt to be excessive/too high and allowed for an a-historical amount of a on-the-fly rail movement. ;)

In the late period both sides were about the same, but in the early period France has to have just enough to embark and on-map corps sized unit like they historically did.

Usually changes in scenarios are either the result of tests or there is a deeper historical fact that was unknown until now, in the later case it is nice to know this historical fact.
I remember a scenario(Eastfront 41-42) from TOAW that modified it's rail capacity because historical facts showed problems of the German locomotives with the Russian winter and that there was considerable damage before the locomotives were modified to work under these harsh conditions.
So I was just curious what the reason was, one can never know to much in the field of history.

Is there any idea when HPS is going to get the update reason I ask is because I'm playing somebody who has the HPS version and I cant update my game which is JTS and so I cant play other people because I cant update to latest version is there any reason why it is taking so long because it used to be only a few days between JTS and then HPS getting the updates.

Usually changes in scenarios are either the result of tests or there is a deeper historical fact that was unknown until now, in the later case it is nice to know this historical fact.

Ah, OK. Yes, it came from abuses to the rail capacity which created a-historical situations. I am looking to improve everything dealing with rail capacity in the next title (that is all I can say about it at the moment, since there is a possibility that it may not happen).

I can only suggest that you speak to Rich H at HPS support, there is no one else I can think of who could answer your query?
