Shell Craters and Smoke design question
How does one make shell craters and smoke in a scenario .map file..?
I have a scenario that needs to start out with smoke already placed
and have had a hard time trying to get it to work.....

Any Ideas would really help.....!!!

RE: Shell Craters and Smoke design question
I'm not sure if that's possible using the editors. Is it even possible to put in just the artillery craters?
"Would you like a large or small crater with that, sir?"
- Republic Commando RC-1262 "Scorch"

"Just get us inside without killing the squad, okay Scorch?"
- RC-1138 "Boss"

I have heard it can be done...been posted here before
...just don't remember the technique.......

Has something to do with laying a artillery strike and saving the
file under a different name...or as I have tried to use Microsoft
Word to edit the .map file...........

RE: Shell Craters and Smoke design question
I believe there is a way to direct edit the .map files to add-in craters. There was a previous post in the not-too-distant past (say last 6 months) about it.

Not sure about smoke though. If I understand the file structure correctly, smoke would probably not be coded into the .map file, but more likely in the .scn file similar to minefields and blockades. If you took a look at a .btl file with smoke present, you might be able to pick out the code for smoke and try manually editing the .scn file to insert the smoke. Not sure if that would work though.

I think you may have to plot some artillery on those hexes then save the file after that turn. As far as I know you cant add those extras just in the map editor. It works ok if you then send the file to the respective players.

RE: Shell Craters and Smoke design question
Just to let everyone know it can be done with a little
cut and paste with the .scn file........

Starting out the game with smoke laid adds new diminsions
to the things scenario designers may accomplish.......

I needed it for my 3rd RS Bougainvelle scenario...
...RS Twice Driven Off.........

And the craters look great.....!!!
Now its back to my Beer and Big Dawgs WF turn... :smg:
