Russian Rifle Division
Thought I would post this if anyone is interested. Was fooling around with my son the other night and we came up with a CMBB representation of an Early CMBB Russian Rifle Division. We had to compromise on a few things but this should be reletively accurate, if I am way off feel free to correct the mistakes. Thought it might be usfull to anyone wanting to make a scenario in this time period and needed to know what units could be present. You could use the '41A Rifle Battalion as a start, or a Company, and base the attachments on the following.

Russian Rifle Division 1941
June - November 1941 Rifle Battalion '41A

Use only for Battalions formed before August 1941, August and after, use Rifle Battalion '41B. Rifle Battalion '41A does not exist after November 1941, as all have been converted to Rifle Battalion '41B. A Rifle Division has 9 such Battalions at this point.

RE: Russian Rifle Division
Ratski,
I think that you forgot one of the Divisional Attachments that contained crucial equipment for the majority of 1941 Russian Rifle Divisions. This represents French Lend-Lease equipment received in 1940:

Division Logistical Attachment
1 x Platoon HQ
25 x Truck
25 x Truck loads of White Flags

RE: Russian Rifle Division
I was surprised to learn the other day that French KIA in WWII (not including the substantial civilian casualties from bombing and slave labour) was not far short of US KIA in all theatres....something like 400k to 480k. Given that the Germans took something like 200k casualties in the invasion of France I guess some French managed to fight after all.

That's what all these "cheese eating surrender monkey" threads are based on, aren't they? The performance in WWII? As if any other nation in 1939 would have done much better. As if the French sacrifices in WWI never existed.

The 400k French dead includes all the French units & divisions that fought in North Africa, central africa, Italy, southern france, Normandy, and the French army that fought in SE france in the closing campaigns against Germany. I don't recall if it included dead from the Marquis/resistance who controlled at times quite large areas with substantial units.

I get a sick feeling in my stomach to hear such casual disparagement of the French dead of WWII and the French formations such as the divisions commanded by Juin in Italy.

No one is laughing at the war dead... we are laughing at the stereotype.

Well, I do apologise...I was exceptionally grumpy yesterday evening and working late. My post was an overreaction. The cheese eating surrender monkeys thing is a term I've heard repeated a number of times although not in your post. Its been a cumulative thing that pushed my button right at that moment.

Bootie I know you were laughing at a steroetype, but its mostly very recent and really tired stereotype that is politically motivated and quite malicious. You never would have heard this kind of stuff widely disseminated five years ago.

I understand where your coming from but to be honest it was quite funny in the context of the first post IMO.
