First & Last Stand
Tiger88 (Axis) vs Big Dawg (Allies)
Turn 21 of 21

The 1st Russsian army commander general read the action report in disbelief. His best field commander Comrade Lt. General Ivan Briscovich's report must be wrong! How could his commander report that he failed to achieve a single objective? Comrade LT. General Ivan Briscovich's plan had called for an assault in mass into the ruins of the nameless small village in the center of his map. Surely the Russians had been successful in this task. "Not a single object held", read the report.

The voice on the radio was soft. "Comrade General everyone is dead", replied Comrade Lt. General Ivan Briscovich. We are down to company strength. All the others are dead or captured. There are no more infantry. They are all dead. I was forced to retreat from the village. No objectives were held. Repeat no objecties held "

The 1st Russian army commander General knew that his friend's days were numbered. Who was that German commander? How could he destroy such a fine army so quickly? How could he deny a single victory objective? Was he so good, or was the Russian just overrated?

The Russian commander summoned the political officer, and dispatched him with the order to bring Lt. General Ivan Briscovich back to HQ. The army commander knew his friend would have to answer for this military disaster.

Strike ofg the Lehr
H. Blauzahn vs. Der Stuber Turn 15

Yet more death and destruction rains down on Rauwiller from artillery fire. With a brief lull in the fighting as both sides collect their dead and wounded, Major Bailey looks over the grim scene of what was left of the fresh engineer unit that had just arrived. These dead and wounded were not the result of enemy fire but from indirect friendly fire. "What a waste of badly needed men" the Major said to himself. The radio operator caught up with the major and handed him an urgent message from HQ. After reading it he wadded it up and threw it to the ground in disgust.
With his staff officers gathered around him the Major says, " Capt Grillo is stuck in Fenetrange under heavy counter fire and it looks like were on our own from here on out." "Make sure all the men have full ammo packs from what we have left and dig in, that includes any wounded that can still fire a rifle.
At Fenetrange, the persistent German engineers keep trying to blow the last bridge with counter attack after counter attack. Capt Grillo ask one of his Lt's " How many times has this bridge traded sides." Its now just a matter of who wants this bridge the worse". Capt Grillo then makes a calculated decision and issues new orders to his staff.
Lt Col Sanders main relief column just ran into some Mk IV's and knocked them out as he too seems to be running into stiff resistance. The whole operational battle plan drawn up at HQ has just been scrapped and no one knows it yet.

Strike of the Lehr
Turn 11

"Jabos!" yelled Fritz into the radio....

Once again the skies were filled with fighter-bombers. Luckily, the damage was light. One panzer and a 251/1 were hit.

The order was to move foward in order to cut off Weyer. The three Panthers lurched foward but did not draw any fire from the dreaded M10s.

The radio traffic indicated that things were going well for the Lehr. Drulingen had been captured. In the west, the defenders of Fenetrange were holding up the advance of "Patton's best". General Bayerlein was heard to say, "This might just work........"
