Moving disabled armor

Moving disabled armor
Often, when a tank is immobilized via terrain or opposing fire, it would be nice to move them. I have been able to load light armor in heavy trucks and move them to a more favorable position. They become ad hoc pillboxes. However, the heavier armor i have not been able to load. I know that in real life tanks are recoverable and can be towed. Are there any vehicles in spwaw h2h that can do the same?

Land barge anyone?

The Koenigstiger was the most powerful combat tank of World War II combining a powerful and effective gun with armor that was virtually impervious to any Allied tank or anti-tank gun. The result was battlefield history! -- George Parada

Long long time ago there was a Bergepanzer in one of older versions of SPWW2. You could find it in OOB editor but you couldn't purchase it. That unit was probably created for scenario designers. In the whole SP family this is the only example of vehicles you ask about known to me.

Hello Guys,

In the misc folder ww2/MBT, many countries have a 'tank transporter'.. and in MBT some of the really heavy lift helo's can move some select tanks around..

WAW doesn't have these vehicles..

RE: Moving disabled armor
I think you can compare load cost to lift capability. If the lift is greater then the load, then it should work. I am not positive about that. IIRC the max lift is something long the lines of 250 or so. Which is why ammo dumps and forts, etc. have a load cost of 255. I don't think there is a distinction made by unit class or size.

I always wondered why the had tank transporters in MBT. At a speed of 9 they are not faster then a tank so I always scratched my head at this unit.

Tank transporters are necessary for the savings of a resource of the engine of the tank and other systems during a march.

Yes, in real life but not in a game.

RE: Moving disabled armor
Armored Recovery Vehicles like the Bergepanzer are for these tasks. Probably not included because people would exploit the game flaws that accompany them (mounting a platoon of infantry comes to mind). Helos are an example of this too.

Epolotv is exactly right. The Tank transporter is for long haul non tactical moves. Tanks break down. Tracks/sprockets wear out. ETC.
Plus you can nap while somebody else does the work!

RE: Moving disabled armor
Are'nt there 'tank recovery vehicles'? The US Army has such vehicles do they not? I was of the impression that these 'recovery vehicles' were for the purpose of removing damaged tanks from the battlefield for repair, and if so,i would think they could be used,if avaliable, but I have never looked!
