SP CD version question.

SP CD version question.
I've just ordered both winSP games from Shrapnel but was wondering if the PBEM games are compatible between the download version and the CD version. I plan to just uninstall the first and replace with the CD version in exactly the same location so the file directory will be the same.:conf:

I want to start a couple of winSPWW2 scenarios but i'll wait until the CD's arrive if it helps avoid any problems swapping over files.

cheers

I tried it in the begining. It didn't work at that time.

RE: SP CD version question.
Fubar,
CD and DL versions are 100% compatible PBEM wise.
As for saved games - with basic security you are OK to go. With full security you are not.

BTW once you get your CDs, I have few hundreds open slots for winWW2 scenarios :)

Slot 000 is fine.
I play with basic security, less problems.
Send me email with scenarios you want play.

RE: SP CD version question.
No worries, the only stock scenario that i have played is Behind the Barrikady. I'm guessing that you've played more scenarios so maybe it'll be easier for you to pick the scenario as i may pick one you've already played. Anything is good with me and either side is cool.

Hi Fubar
Good on ya for ordering the CDs bro, you will not regret that decision at all.
All the extra PBEM slots, map editing, better screen res, op-fire filter...and the list goes on.

Here's a hint for your new installation.
Change the name of the old SPWW2 / MBT file to "OLD MBT" or whatever and leave it installed for the meantime. It will act as a back-up for all your extra files until you are sure you are running perfectly with your new installation

Then just let the CD install itself to the default location. Then you MUST reapply all the patches in order... (2.0 then 2.5 then 3.0 for MBT)...

(is there one for WW2? amazingly enough I cannot recall...man I was up WAY too early this morning, I mean really, how can you rock out properly at 06:00? That is unless you are still up from the night before eh :-) )

Now you have a nice fresh and clean installation...HURRAH!! Have a qyick look and reset your preferences, screen resolution etc. and if everything is OK you should be able to copy any map, scenario, campaign, PBEM etc. files from your "OLD" installation.
As has been already said, as long as you "basic" security you will be able to carry on your games with no problems.

If you have a bunch of saved games, scenarios etc, just be aware when you copy them across that you may have to re number the files if the new release has more files...this is common with scenario and campaign files as third party developers often use low numbered slots to save there new scenarios etc.
Just change the number on the files to a free numbers and you are back in business :-)

Hopefully this helps...excuse the rambliong, I am starting to sound like Grumbler...he he...not even close eh!! Rsepect to ya bro. Salute ///
:whis:

Cheers
