You could carry both a main email account with say Yahoo and one with Hotmail or whatever, that way if you do not hear from yur opponent for some time and repeated emails do not help you can send to the alternate email. I have had the occaisional file get picked up by hotmail as virus filled, even though it was not but could not download it. We just switched over to my other account and carried on.

Live Messenger is the new version of MSN Messenger, it has a file sharing feature. When i add a file to a contacts sharing file as soon as they log on they receive the file automatically without me needing to be there at the time.

This works a treat for me as my PC is on 24/7, it's quick too as i've sent JPEGS, TXT files and even MP3 files.

I seem to be suffering from this too, some e mails to my outlook express just 'dissapear' without a trace and its very annoying . Ill try to make another account and see how it goes.
