I watched the fim on TV a year ago but can't remember anything about it so it can't have made much of an impression on me, just another Nam movie with nothing special about it apart from the theme tune..

Just another Nam movie? Lets see....historical, first major battle of American soildiers versus NVA. First use of airmobile forces in combat. 400 American troops against 2 to 4 thousand Viet. troops. 2 CMOH awarded. Just another Nam movie?...not really....excellent combat film!

Yes but all undone by the most hyper cheesy Hollywood ending ever.

RE: Mansions of the Lord
Would have liked to had them continue on with the story of LZ Albany rather than Hollywooded the ending like they did.. It was a good movie tho

Movie was fine. The book was awesome!

The first major US Air Assault operation against NVA (as stated above). Great idea and tactics, poor intell...hard fought battle. The story has all the elements of a classic Western Movie a la John Wayne!

I was fortunate enough as a young Infantry Lt in the US Army to have one of the last active duty NCO's, who was a veteran of that battle, as an instructor.
