Falklands in the Baltic

Falklands in the Baltic
I've been thinking of trying to organise a sort of PBEM campaign, based on a Soviet invasion of the Swedish Island of Gotland circa 1982...

Gotland - about to become the Falklands of the Baltic... Eek

The campaign will be fought as a series of scenarios.

I will make the scenarios. I will also act as a "game master", creating problems etc for both sides. ;)

There will be a need for at least one player for each side.

The players will have to make some strategic choices, but it will not be neccessary to master any other game than winSPMBT.

I will also assume the roll of the BBC chronicling the conflict...:whis:

Basically the idea is to create some unusual, unpredictable PBEM games where players will need to take the greater picture into account - making it potentially damaging in the long run using Kamikaze tactics etc.

The OOBs will be based on the real world, but not made public.

Also, there are no guarantees that the battles will be balanced.

The side that destroys the enemy forces or breaks the enemy will to fight will be the winner, securing, of course, eternal glory to their name -either as the defender or the conqeuror.

..number 55.. :whis: ;)

Sounds interesting. Sign me up.

How many scenarios are you planning to do? Will they be made in advance or created as the campaign progresses?

RE: Falklands in the Baltic
I will make them as we go along - they will depend on a number of choices and results of previous battles.

For example, initially, the iniative will be Soviet - the Soviet side will have the option to conduct a "strategic assault" or a "dedicated invasion".

The frist option will rely on surprise, catching Swedish defences off guard - before the majority of the island forces have been mobilised. However, in turn, the invasion force will be limited and more vulnerable.

The second option, will give greater punch to the invasion - but preparations will take time and be hard to keep secret - the Swedes will have their guard up...

:cool2:

Regarding the number of scenarios - I don't really know, that depends on the number of players of course - but mostly, I think, on the interest of the players. The campaign will probably end with one side having their morale broken, possibly after the first few games...

Jolly good, Epoletov! Seems like we have the Soviet side covered, more Soviet commanders are of course welcome... cheers

zeiss and wigam - I'd like to know what side you'd prefer play - especially if any of you would be willing to shoulder the role of C MKG (Commander Military Command Gotland)... ;)

Cry

Oh - for pity's sake.. you make me cry.. I'm getting ready to move my family in about 2 months (not far - just a few blocks).. and so I don't have time for this sort of stuff..

Bad timing on my part..??

All these cool games/campaigns/tourneys that I'm missing! (czerpak's, Wigam's, Klanx171's)

Please keep it up so when I get back to normal later this summer I can join in with new events that come along.

cheers
