RE: Operation Gotland
I hope to get the ball rolling in earnest this weekend - first out will be the initial planning for both sides and I would think that will take a few days to discuss stuff, ask questions and such.

First out will be the Soviets - the Swedish mobilisation is a reaction on Soviet moves.

When I know what both sides wish to do I will build the scenarios.

Hopefully we can start the actual games sometime next week...

We interrupt this program for a special bulletin.

The crisis in the Baltic that seemed to be settling down today took a turn for the worse as Soviet military forces conducted attacks against Sweden.

Swedish officials have claimed that Soviet air and naval forces in the Baltic region have engaged in acts of outright warfare against Sweden. No official statements from Moscow have yet been put forward.

It has been speculated as to the extent of this operation, seemingly a punitive measure for the sinking of a Soviet warship earlier this year and the retaining of a nuclear armed Soviet submarine by the Swedish authorities.

Anonymous sources inside NATO have told the BBC that the Soviets have even launched a full scale invasion of the Baltic island of Gotland. This information has yet to be confirmed. NATO forces have however been put on high alert.

More coverage of this situation will follow as in our regular news broadcast.

Here are the BBC news.

It has now been confirmed from Moscow that the USSR has indeed undertaken military actions against what is called the psuedo-fascist kingdom of Sweden.

The operation is said to aim at enforcing stability in the Baltic Sea region following the outrageous aggressive actions of the Swedish military in the crisis earlier this year after the beaching of a Soviet Whiskey class submarine inside Swedish waters.

It appears Soviet paratroopers and naval units have staged a surprise assault on Gotland, a Swedish island between mainland Sweden and the Soviet Baltic Republics.

The attack has been confirmed by Swedish sources who claim that the Soviet attack lacks any and all justification and is purely an act of aggression contrary to all international law.

As of yet, there have been no reports of Soviet attacks on mainland Sweden.

Statements from Washington and other NATO countries have all, not surprisingly, been in favour of Sweden, condemning the Soviet action.

According to Swedish authorities a large number of civilians are on the run from Soviet forces, while this in turn is contradicted by Soviet officials, claiming the Soviet soldiers are treated by the vast majority as liberators.

Earlier this morning, the Kremlin declared the intention of making the future Socialist Republic of Gotland an integral part of the Soviet Union, as soon as the operation has been concluded. A number of benefits the population of Gotland was to receive following this was also presented.

No response on this declaration has yet been forthcoming from Stockholm, but Swedish radio and TV, now mobilised for the propaganda war, continuously repeat the slogan “all messages suggesting the resistance is to cease are false”.

And fighting on the island seem to still be raging. Just recently a triumphant Swedish prime minister claimed its forces had recaptured the town of Slite in the north-eastern part of Gotland from Soviet paratroopers. The Soviets deny having suffred any setbacks, but NATO sources are apparently in agreement with the Swedish prime minister.

RE: Operation Gotland
Off course, the patches for WW2 and MBT are out - it's not like I have anything better to do. Big Grin

An update on events during morning to midday of the second day have been sent to the commanders.

Along with requests for commanders for the coming battles, both sides will need three good men to step up. :smg:

RE: Operation Gotland
So Wulfir is back. Leave a note next time you take the snowmobile to Torneå to buy your monthly moonshine ration. ;)

Are we using the new patch in the new battles?
