Tank Overhaul

I came across this show a few days ago. The episode I saw covered the restoration of a Panther Tank which sank to the bottom of a Polish river in January 1945.

The underwriter of the restoration is a man named Jaques Littlefield, owner of the largest private tank collection in the world. Some photos of his stuff are located at:

The show is fascinating. There was an interesting comparison of the battlefield repair process between the Panther and the Sherman, as well as a comparison of their respective drive mechanisms and gears.

Keep a look out for it; it's well worth watching. Now this is a hobby I could get into!

Just to let you know, if anyone is around Fort Knox the 26th or 27th Of May the Patton Museum is going to have a WWII Armor Display and Reenactment. We will have 3 Shermans(A1, A4 & 105how versions), 3+ Stuarts (M5), M3 & M5 halftracks, M20 armored car, german 1ton halftracks, pak 40s and 200+ infantry reenactors. Plus we were working to get up and running a PzIII Ausf M and that should also be there. It is a free event at Keyes Park on post ran by the museum volunteers, shoe times 11 & 2 Saturday and noon Sunday with the vehicles open for display after each show. If you need any more info give me a shout.

History Television (Canada) ran 4 or 5 episodes of Tank Overhaul a few months ago & it was a pretty :cool: show. I particularly enjoyed the Panther episode. :soap:If they'd show more programs like that instead of CSI: New York (what that has to do with history is beyond me...) I'd be satisfied with the quality of that channel.
