War games and divorce

First I had to convince my wife to allow me to spend a few thousand dollars on a notebook. Then I had to explain to her the advantages of having a connection between the notebook and our cell phone so we could have internet access anywhere cell phone service was available.

Then I had to explain why I wasn't purchasing the newest operating system.

If she knew it was because I want to be able to play old war games at work or anywhere, for that matter, I'll be camping out in the yard until it gets so cold she begins to feel sorry for me!

I can only hope she never figures out my password for this site.

I solved my problem years ago by buying my Wife the notebook and showing her Ebay, Moms online network, and Yahoo games...

Although some friends find it strange that she IMs me when dinner is ready... :)

I like RedDevil's idea about buying my wife a notebook. We're going to get set up with wireless, so she could use her computer to play card games and do her email thing in any room in the house.

About the only thing else she really likes to do with the computer is mess around with the pictures we take with the digital camera.

So, I'd need a notebook that could run a good picture editor? I can always get her additional storage space with external add-on memory. Anyone got a suggestion for a unit for this limited use?

I see notebooks for less than $1000. If I'm looking for something that could run the aforementioned processes, any ideas about what might fit the bill?
