AAR Feedback
Since the Coil is leaving for a few days, it is giving me a chance to think about these AARs. I actually enjoy doing it, although it is a lot of work. But I would appreciate any feedback - positive or negative - on the AAR. I like well-written and entertaining AARs, and I doubt that mine qualifies. But I wouldnt mind trying to make it more enjoyable. I see there are quite a few views, so that is encouraging.

Are you guys able to follow the action?
Do you like more of the story-line AAR (I tried to do that a little bit), or just here is what I am going to do?
Too many screen shots? Are the different angels of the screenshots confusing?
Do you guys want orders and action updates every turn, or just every couple of turns?

Let me know.
Thanks

RE: AAR Feedback
More screenshots would be helpful.

RE: AAR Feedback
I like the feel of the AAR (well DAR) so far, a bit of narrative thrown in and plenty of explanations as to your tactical thinking. It has encouraged me to think about doing an AAR in the future so that is something. The number of pictures is fine as far as I am concerned, the explanations about the use of satchel charges and other use of weapons is again very welcome. Sometimes I prefer more narrative-driven AARs, but it depends of the game. I also like the fact that we are getting the two sides of the AAR, interesting to see how two tactical plans pan out in the face of each other. The illustrations marking intentions are also helpful and the wider picture shots to see how the strategy is panning out.

If only I knew how to do one of those clicky things you'd both get one, or two or however many a good AAR deserves.:) At least I can do a smiley.

cheers

No mate..much too longwinded for me to follow, and not only that but there are 3 separate CTv Coil threads going which confuses my poor old brain further..
Maybe some people like reading big long AAR's but I ain't one of 'em, I prefer short sharp AAR's with just a couple of pics like in my 'POS beats Andre' AAR thread.
Well you did ask..
PS - I intend doing a similar couple of endgame AAR screenshots for every game I play whether I win or lose, under the simple title 'X beats POS' (or vice-versa) which says all an AAR needs to say anyway..
(I'm currently playing 6 doods who dream of seeing their name up in lights like that - 'X beats POS'.
Dream on guys.. ;)

Echo what cillmhor has said, but I am far too lazy to attempt the same. Its great stuff guys keep it up. More details the better.

RE: AAR Feedback
Really enjoying it, keep up the good work. Please dont go the POS route of just posting a final picture which has no context or meaning and in no way informs or entertains.

One pics worth a thousand words.. ;)
I'd do bigger AAR's myself but I'm not sure everybody wants long AAR's, maybe somebody could put up a poll to find out..

PS - but yeah maybe my Andre AAR was a bit too short, but it was only a small simple game, my Fireflies and his Tigers simply shot it out, not much more to tell..

RE: AAR Feedback
Here's another style of AAR I've used in the past, this from a game last year, my Rumanian R-2's v X's T-26's, I scraped a minor vic -

1 - Half my R-2's (10 tanks) escort my inf to the flags
2 - The other half probe up the road to hopefully engage his tanks which I suspect will come down the road
3 - Wrong! I run into an AT-gun wall and lose several tanks. The survivors return fire like crazy and wipe out the guns.
4 - Now his fleet of 20 x T-26's hoves into view on the far left going for the flags
5 - So I pull my righthand group all the way round to intercept, hoping to nail them as they emerge from behind the trees

Zappo - and that's exactly what happens, his T-26's trundle out in dribs and drabs as if on a conveyor belt and I pick them off one by one..
