Use of Rockets in QB's
On a ME QB
Do you think it's worth the price,
To buy Rockets,
Set them to Fire first turn,
And hit Pause till you want them to land?

RE: Use of Rockets in QB's
I never buy them....they cost heavily...are uncontrollable...you may do some damage/you may not...I'll rather buy some extra armor or infantry...way better results...
oh...never had your own rockets land on your helmets?

In a ME fire-missions are not possible. In the other forms of QB fire missions are a possibility.
So, in a ME never buy rockets. You can't aim them straight.
BTW there is a nice scenario Rockets and Roll where the german siode gets a lot of rocket FO's. They did a lot of damage (agianst soft-skinned vehicles mostly) !

In my experience they hardly worth the purchase, except in special situations.
Maybe without the rarity modifier.
One good side-effect of the rockets that they create a lot of big craters for your attacking infantry to sneak in.

RE: Use of Rockets in QB's
In real life rockets were more of an operational level weapon, indeed the Soviets considered them a strategic level asset and consequently they don't fit too well into the tactical level of the CM battlefield. I think the best way to represent rockets in the game would be for a scenario designer to portray the defending side as already having received a rocket attack shortly before the game began, such as having heavily damaged ground and the defenders starting with casualties and being in a weakened state.

RE: Use of Rockets in QB's
I'm in the middle of creating a battle where the Russians are attacking a town.
I had rocket spotters to start with but after running several tests it just didn't work out. In some tests the rockets landed on top of their own heads.
So now I replaced them by a mixture of arty spotters, more efficient, more accurate and effective during a longer timeframe.

RE: Use of Rockets in QB's
I have not done many experiments with rockets, but in every case in which I have, the footprint has been so large that the enemy has plenty of time to recover from surpression effects before my troops can close with them. Artillery is precise enough that you can put your troops close enough to see broken or routed units and take advantage.
