RE: 1st Kill - Silent Hunter 3
I am watching it again but in German. The dialogue is actually different then the english version. I like the German one better.

I watched Kung Fu Hustle the other evening and noticed that the dialogue was totally different between the dubbed version and subtitled version. I much prefer subtitles normally unless i've been drinking then it's dubbed FTW. :whis:

I have Graw and Graw2 and Vista is actually working out well now that everything patched up.

I've just been playing the COD4 demo, great fun, and it's made me get back into modern era shooters like Rainbow Six.

So you recommend GRAW2, i did read a review that said it had a few bugs, have these been patched up at all ? If so then my local games store may be graced with my presence soon. Big Grin

RE: 1st Kill - Silent Hunter 3
Ubisoft is king of patches! I like their games and own quite a few, but they release games premature and then patch the hell out of them or wait, as in SH series, for the public to mod all the bugs out.

Example: Company of Heroes patches 1.1 - 1.4, 1.5, 1.51,1.60,1,61, 1.7, 1.71!

This is typical for their products, and two of the above patches are over 100mb big!

Nope, I didn't see that...hell might as well just release the game again!

Don't know, played the game a few times and then put it away, I don't play much online stuff.

They have released a DirectX 10 version of CoH/OF but i can't see it's gonna be worth getting again.....the game looks amazing as is. I have to say SH4 looks great running at max detail....what a difference.

Does that mean GRAW2 isn't much good if you stopped playing it ?

RE: 1st Kill - Silent Hunter 3
I haven't started playing it yet, I am still on GRAW. I love GRAW and I am almost done the game; but I don't play a game straight through, I will start then go to something else then something else and back again. I haven't touched SH in weeks now because I switched to Brother's in arms, which I have now slid to the back burner because of the tournament.

Is GRAW2 worth $59? Nope, but no game is. If you can get GRAW cheap go for it and see if you like the game first.

RE: 1st Kill - Silent Hunter 3
There is a new Tigger Maru patch out at subsim which will bring SH4 up to 1.6.4 if you are using TM. IF not then they will be releasing a new patch around end Nov. Now for the fun stuff:

Here I was NW of Ireland in my type IXB in horrible weather when I ran into a convoy. With the waves breaking over the periscope I didn't have much of chance of getting a good track on the ships, but I did catch enough of a glimpse (it was night in Feb) to pick out an oil tanker. I quickly estimated speed at 8 knots, course 60 degrees, depth 7m (because of the heavy waves). I opened up my 3 loaded tubes and set a spread of 6 degrees, range 2200 meters. LOOOSE! Well a few minutes later I was greeted with two torpedo explosions and the breaking back of an oil tanker. WOOO HOOO! Tried it again the next night after evading the ASW and tracking the convoy but no joy this time, all three missed.

RE: 1st Kill - Silent Hunter 3
I still find the TDC in SH3 much easier to use than the SH4 one, I have a much higher hit rate in GWX than TM. Man those destroyers in TM 1.6.4 can hear a gnat fart at 4 miles, anything faster than silent running brings them breathing down my neck in minutes. Just what use are the decoys.....haven't had any luck with them yet.

Spooky you should mention TM, i've just finished installing 1.6.4 plus the ROW mod and now i'm wondering if i need the NSM mod as well.

I wonder if the new SH4 patch will break all the mods or if they will still be OK with a little tinkering ?

cheers
