New system / tech help
Comrades,

I have successfully installed a new system (to my surprise as I am a technical idiot) and it seems to run fine.
Bought the Matrix Version of CS and installed it with all patches... again everything fine. :chin:
BUT... we had a teamgame going on which we would like to continue... it was started in the "old fashioned" mode (means Talonsoft). So I am now trying to reinstall the TS products on my machine, and here the trouble begins. :hissy:
IF I install EiF it says it´s version 1.01a. There´s a lot of patches available for this, which one do I need ? How to procced ?

I can remember that there was some sort of a update/patch guide long ago, but I can´t find it. Any help out there would be much appreciated !

RE: New system / tech help
New system? You mean Vista? If yes Talonsoft won't work. You will have to install older version of windows (XP or 98) on second partition or install under Vista program like VirtualPC, create virtual machine and install system and Talonsoft on it.

No, his game works, he just wants to know what patches to install to update his Talonsoft EiF. Sorry, I don't have EiF, just EF2, I have the 1.02 patch for that, but can't help you out with EiF.

RE: New system / tech help
As far as im aware EiF doesnt need a patch its version 1.03 but is not compatible with version 1.02 ie standard EF.Main problem between the 2 as far as im aware are the maps ie you get the hedge row effect when trying to play one to the other.

RE: New system / tech help
John, Gary and all others,

just a more details for clarification.
I now have Vista, yes
the matrix versions runs fins

After installing EiF the game starts fine (but as EFII, V1.01a)
I then load the old replay and the game crashes Cry
Then I used the "EiF updater patch", it brings the game to V1.02

I then started the game again (all fine)
Then again loaded the old replay and IT RUNS  but...
after watching the replay all my units had a hard attack value of only 1 :hissy: :censored:

Any ideas, suggestions, comments ?
Please help !!!!

V1.03 of EF is EF Gold AFAIK. V1.02 is the common and regular version of the game.
EiF installs EF as V1.01a, and there are two patches available.

Thanks in advance !

RE: New system / tech help
Thomas,

Just sent you an email regarding this.

Did some checking in past posts on the board and found this.

RedDevil Wrote:Not sure where Matrix is with their development at this point, but The CS series does NOT run on Vista properly.
It will load up, but all Hard target ranges are changed to zero and one cannot engage hard targets then.

The key word of course being "properly"

I think if you are running Vista now it's Matrix CS or nothing.

RE: New system / tech help
Gary is right if you have Vista you cannot run the older CS games, only Matrix's version.

Simply copy the scenario files into the appropriate CS folder in the matrix version and play it thru that.
You "may" need to watch the replay in the older program and save the BTE file, then reload into matrix however, so try it both ways and see what you get.

RE: New system / tech help
Randy, Gary,

thanks for the information. I searched the MB yesterday evening and found all the neccessary posts.
I think/hope that we can continue the game with MCS as all teamplayers seem to have it.
MCS loads the game, I was able to watch the replay and play a part of my portion, so everything should work I hope.

Thanks again for your help guys !
