CAV defense factor
Gentlemen,
I'd like to get your view concerning why cavalry has a defense factor
of only 4, not the usual 7 for most infantry. Poor defensive training or what?

RE: CAV defense factor
I'm the wrong guy really to offer an opinion but I would say that the cavalry's lower defense factor is due to the fact that even up to the early stages of WWII they were used as scouts (I think that the theory that they could exploit a breakthrough died in WWI). Cavalry would not be equipped with heavier weapons.
There has been some debate but in my view close assault in Campaign Series does not always represent hand to hand combat due to the scale of the CS map (250 metres).
Also the defense factor is used when figuring direct fire attacks. Don't know why it would be easier to hit cavalry than regular infantry, because the horses are a separate unit.
