German Infantry Defense Ratings In S42 OOB (VM)

Anybody (including VM or Glenn if you are out there) have thoughts on why the German infantry defense varies so much in the S42 OOB?

For example, the 71st Infantry Division's infantry has a defense of 16 and the 100th Jagar Division infantry have a defense of 18 while the 24th Panzer Division's panzergrenadiers have a defense of 10. The 14th Panzer Division's panzergrenadiers have a defense of 10. In the "what if" section, even the SS divisions have their panzergrenadier defense at 10. Also, the Romanian infantry have a defense rating of 14.

Curiously and for comparison, in the 71st and the 100th, the defense rating for artillery units is 12.

Why would the infantry division's infantry have a defense rating that so much higher than a panzer division's panzergrenadiers? The component for the panzergrenadier is "42 Pz Gren Kp (--)w". The component for the jager division is "42 Jager Kp (--)w". So, I think the components are roughly the same thing.

I am looking at the file "Stalingrad '42 Nov_Alt_McNamara".

I was thinking of improving the panzergrenadier's defense rating to 18 (maybe 20) but wanted to understand first if there was a reason that it was different in the first place.

Are you looking at the panzergrenadiers' defense rating dismounted? 10 looks like their vehicle defense rating.

You are looking to hard here.

All deployed Inf unit us a value in the PDT which my default is 16. Foot Inf have that value as well.

These are FOOT Inf units and we rated their Def value to be slightly higher than normal Inf.

Right - but this Value which is used only when the unit is in T mode. Their default value in Deployed mode is 16 as you will see in the game.

When in doubt Marty, look at game examples to see if you see issue and don't worry about what looks like an issue in the editor.
