Fatigue

Fatigue
It's sometime since I read the manual but I always thought that fatigue was only incurred by combat and this was the only way for a unit to gain fatigue.
Whilst playing a campaign from EA42 my forces seem to be incurring fatigue during a storm whilst doing other things than combat like moving.
Have I got this fatigue thing wrong and its not just combat related. It's just I've never noticed this happening before in my games.

Cheers
Gordon

RE: Fatigue
Not sure about the fatigue during the storm but if you have the night fatigue box checked in the rules setup then moving at night will increase your units fatigue.

RE: Fatigue
Typhoon is correct you can gain fatigue by moving at night with this Opt rule checked, otherwise that rules state that fatigue can only be gained by combat losses or fatigue results.

The rules on storms do not mention fatigue, so i guess the answer is no they should not gain fatigue.

I have a sand storm howling in C40 at the moment, i will watch to see if my moving units gain fatigue or not? :chin:

RE: Fatigue
It makes perfect sense to me that units in RL would lose cohesion ("gain fatigue" in PzC-speak) while moving in a storm. Certainly this should apply to units in deployed formation, and quite possibly even to units moving in line.

I can't see anything in the rules that describes this, though.

RE: Fatigue
I know in EA42 that Vehicle Breakdown is a concern, however in the rules it appears that only the number of vehicles is affected & not fatigue.

Edited to Add: I just ran a test using the notoriously unreliable Crusader tank units in EA42 & although they did lose vehicles to breakdowns there was no corresponding increase in fatigue.

RE: Fatigue
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info, night fatigue is checked in the optional rules. I always assumed by mistake it seems now that night fatigue meant you gained more than normal fatigue if indulging in night combat.
So now I take it any action you can perform at night gains you fatigue with this option set.
The night turn coincided with the start of the storm and that is the reason I figured it was the storm causing the increase in fatigue levels of moved units and not the night fatigue option.
Just to be sure I'll keep my eye on it for a few turns.

Cheers,
Gordon

Foul. Wrote:I have a sand storm howling in C40 at the moment

You're playing Compass? Be still my beating heart. Big Grin Kevin and I were playing Compass, with an AAR even, when I stopped playing. We had gotten through the early stages and Kevin was mopping up every thing in Egypt, and the crossing of the wire and the battle for Libya was about to start.
