Has anyone had problems with big scens in RS? I posted 3 weeks or so back about an Iwo Jima game I am building that got bogged down. McIvan suggested lack of memory (I had 500 or so multibats) I doubled this to 1000 or so quelchazogs. I gave a man some $$s to do this. He put in two new chips, which did not look like fried potato to me
Before, I got past the bombardment phase, and started landing a brigade(+) on the beach when it just slowed down and stopped. Turn 8, I think. Just would not go any further, including one test where I left it to replay overnight.
I am running V1.03 club download, which has caused some difficulty, I believe, in some areas to some people.
I have sized down and decompressed the landing, added two arty spotters (US), sent off my first move and got it back, Landing craft are due at turn #6, This is replay Mike's first move........ three bombardment shots in and then stop.....nothing ........CTRL-ALT-DEL-green screen.
Don't tell me it's lack of memory. I don't know much about these machines but I am pretty sure that 1000 quandofartz will enable me to work out quickly all I need to know in order to land the first human on the Sun.
Maybe there's just an internal limit on arrays or calculations or perhaps the number of moves that the replay can store?
Mind you if that was the case our Alamein team game would be stalling...the replays are so large on that thing that I don't think anybody can be bothered with the hour to two hours necessary to watch them.
Hmmm...so I'm a bit stumped.
It's still a good thing you upgraded your memory tho Rod, 512 gigapiglets isn't really enough these days.
What is the cave bug (apart from some underground arthropod of of the Class Insecta)? I seem to remember something about it when RS first came out, but I thought it had been made extinct..
