The Masters Tournament
I hear the rumble of war............................................... ..............

I understand war starts in Poland at 0440 September 1st...............

At The Scenario Depot II there were 18 designers, that had a total of 33 scenarios, which received a 10 or better rating by 31 December 2007. I will call a 10 or better rating a Master's Rating.

There were 2 CMBO, 14 CMBB and 17 CMAK.

12 designers had only 1 scenario with a Master rating.
3 designers had 2 scenarios that earned the Master rating.
2 designers had 3 scenarios that earned the Master rating.
1 designer had 9 scenarios that earned the Master rating.

A good Commander knows when to prepare to fight. The beast begins to stir, make good use of your time.

The rumblings of war are getting louder............

RE: The Rumblings of War
The middle of November a small group of 18 officers high in CM rankings was called to arms.

They were to prepare for war in the coming year. Nobody was quite sure when the time of the attack would come and all were told to prepare for war. The 18 were sifted and sorted and some were found to be invalids from previous battlefield experiences and could not sustain the offensive.

Enough were found that the plans were agreed to and preparations for war were started immediately. Then finally in June a date was set.

1 September 2008 would be a date remembered well in the history of CM intercommunity warfare. For it will be on this date that the plans and preparations will all come together and the combatants will start to arrive on the field.

Those who are of a willingness to go into battle for their clubs, or groups, or as defending their own singular honor on the field.

Who amongst you will find the courage to advance into the unknown battlefield prepared by the Masters?

Good Hunting.

RE: The Rumblings of War
This has been posted to GS, WaW, Blitz. Of course it has been posted to The Scenario Depot II, that's where it all began...so long ago......

I am aware of a German and French CM sites but have no idea how to reach them.

This is open to everyone.

Whether a gamer wants to represent a club, group or just themselves. I will attempt to pit gamers of different affiliations against each other. If however one group is too large they may end up with some of their gamers fighting it out as well.

If I were you I would think you should practice up on both CMAK and CMBB........but hey, that's just me. The most there will be is 18 scenarios to play the least 3. How many rounds there will be has yet to be determined....but then how long does a war last? Until it's over.

The same will hold true of the Masters Tournament.

Good Hunting.

Guderian Wrote:Is this going to be a tourney similar to the old Rumblings of War tournies at Battlefront?

I have no idea. I don't know anything about the Rumblings of War tournaments.

This one won't be called that either. It is set up to fight either as clubs or as individuals. However those that sign up want to be included.

I guess the Rumblings of War is a common term...meaning that war is approaching. Other terms are Waking the Beast, The War Breathes Again....Starting the Dance.....etc....

In this case another tournament put together by the designers of scenarios that have earned a 10 or higher on The Scenario Depot II.

Good Hunting.

RE: The Rumblings of War
To clarify some things quickly before we go any further.

1) This is NOT A RUMBLINGS OF WAR (ROW) Tournament. That was just a very poor choice of wording on my part. This is the Masters Tournament.

2) All scenarios are submitted by the designers when they think they are playtested and balanced. I may or may not be involved in that process.

If a designer sends me his scenario and says it's ready for you guys I'll take it and give it to you.

3) None of these scenarios will have been played by anyone in the tournament. The only people not setup to play these scenarios are the designers who submit them and their playtesters. Most of the playtesting is done outside the group so for the most part even the designers inside the group haven't played them.

4) You better sharpen your skills. At least 6 other clubs may be involved. The scenarios have two criteria. They must be either CMAK or CMBB and no longer than 40 turns. Given a return rate of 1 file per day each that has the games capable of being finished in 60 days. I normally allow for 90 days per round in my tournaments. As always this tournament will have it's fair share of drop outs. If there is a drop out the games will be awarded 100-0 for the side still in. The club that has the drop out will be responsible for replacing the gamer that would have to leave for whatever reason. All games will have a single password per side so any game can be turned over to another gamer. The gamer taking over should be someone not having finished the scenario already but that would be determined on a case by case situation.

5) The entire idea is to have fun with the work of some of the best scenario designers out there. The variety of the scenarios couldn't be greater. The talent in this tournament has hand picked by the reviewers at The Scenario Depot II with their ratings on the scenarios for more than a year. Not every scenario will be for everybody. But then thats the fun of it. All gamers will play all scenarios in the tournament. Each round will see you matched with a different opponent.

6) The actual sign up is set to start on 1 September. I will give out the assignments 10 days later barring any personal RL issues of my own around that time.

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

RE: The Rumblings of War
MR,
A few questions.
-This sounds like another version of the KOTH2 tournament which is currently winding down. Is this along those lines?
-When you say that only designers who have designed a scenario which got a 10 for a rating are submitting material, I am assumiung this is not the scenario that they rated a 10 on in the first place. If that is the case, are we the playtesters?
-Since these scenarios are going to be brand new and against other club members too, then I am guessing none of them are reportable on the Blitz ladders?
