GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The City

Feldfebel's Russian 37mm AA gun teaches my Germans a valuable lesson-'don't leave enemy guns in your rear'..
In other words, bypassing guns like my panzer column is doing may sound fine on paper, but it means they're left sitting on your line of communications, free to fire into your backs..
PS- Incidentally, if your own guns come on as reinfs and are pointing the wrong way it might not be a bad thing if it means they'll be pointing at the rear of a bypassing enemy column..

Beatguy's Russian 25mm AA gun valiantly takes on 7 panzers; even an unspotted Ampulomet is bravely discharging globules of inflammable liquid at the leading tank (note the puddle of fire beneath the vehicle)..

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The Town

After overunning the hilltop stronghold and sending the Russian defenders fleeing, my panzers shake out into hammerhead formation for the final push on the Volga, but Bootie's T-34 launches a surprise spoiling attack from the outskirts of the town and takes out a panzer..

The T-34's view of the kill, using a house to give partial cover..

PS- just for comparison here are the trees toggled on at their lowest density, I'd prefer leaving them on in all my screenshots but they often obscure a lot of the action so I usually have to toggle them off to give a clearer overall picture..
PS again- and if you see 'This post was last modified by POS' beneath some pics it simply means I've gone back to clear up a spelling mistake or added a divinely witty remark or sentence or two to clarify the action etc..

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The Hill

Risnervich's 2 Russian guns give my panzers a hot reception, the 57mm ATG on right knocks out the lead tank and the 76mm IG on left blasts the tracks off another..
(note how the German force is strung out for miles behind, that's been the case in every game and is quite normal; predictably the halftracks and trucks were stopped and/or disrupted far easier than the tanks)

Huzaar's panzer storms the rail crossing on its own without waiting for its kameraden, firing on the move to knock out both Russian guns (X's)..

In a stunning display of Aryan supremacy it then sits insolently blocking the line declaring- "Ha! We have ways of stopping ze trains!" as its infantry passengers jump off to hose down the cowed Russian remnants with pointblank small-arms fire..

If you think you can play 40 turns in that time go for it.

You want a silver trophy?

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The Wheatfield

Combat Wombat's panzer comes prowling down the road; my ZIS-3 got the first shot and missed, so the panzer returns fire and blows away the gun with the remark-"You had your chance Jack"..

The panzers view of the action..

Tactical note- the gun arrived on that spot as a reinf 3 turns ago, so I had no time to push it into cover (and incur a 4 minute setup time penalty), all I could do was pivot it on the spot just in time to meet the enemy..

Kevman's panzers decisively knock out two guns..

The gun crews are clearly left in a distressed state, the AT-gunner lies violently dry-retching, while the traumatised AA gunner flees towards the camera uncontrollably breaking wind..
Note too the unfortunate flamethrower guy through the foliage on the right, flat on his back gazing skyward with the million-mile stare after being caught up in the blast that took out the ATG..

My panzer crushes Feldfebel's AA gun beneath its tracks (it's the little sh*t that was shooting my panzer column in the back in post #111) but a Russian flamethrower greets the tank with the words- "welcome to the East Front Charlie"..

Meanwhile up ahead my Stuka strike comes in but slightly overshoots the Russians..

With only one turn left and with DasTiger plugging the narrow woods road ahead with armour, I decide i've no chance of reaching the last 2 flags at the Hill and the Town in the background, so call off any further advance and settle for trading shots with his armour instead..

Das Tiger plays a powerful card- a KV2- to keep the panzers bottled up, it shrugs off two penetrations and this ricochet without damage..
