WaW/H2H question.

WaW/H2H question.
What difference does the stance order make?

From reading the manual it says that units in defense stance have an increased chance of spec op fire but it doesn't really make clear what the advantage of advance stance is.....at a guess it's extra movement points?

Also it makes it sound like the stance orders are only any use if your using the optional CC rules....is this true?

I'm prolly just being incredibly dumb. :whis:

Thx in advance. cheers

RE: WaW/H2H question.
Matt, I'm rusty at SP, but I'm here so I'll give a shot going from memory.

You're correct that the stance doesn't matter if you are NOT using C&C. With C&C off the units will automatically adopt the stance that is most advantageous to them (for example, if you leave them stationary they will switch to defend and eventually dug in by themselves).

If you have C&C on, you must use orders and have contact (radio of LOS) to have a unit change it's stance. If don't switch a unit to defend it will never dig in.

Obviously the advantages in stance are tied to better protection from fire, less suppression, and more op fire on the defense.

Close Paul but not quite correct.

It does matter which stance you have even with CC off, if the stance is advance the unit will never automatically change to defend and thus never digs in in a meeting engagement or for attacker. Best to change every unit to defend at start if not using CC then they will automatically start digging in if they stop.

With CC on you better be very careful with deployment and stance, otherwise you'll easily lose a lot of units MIA.

RE: WaW/H2H question.
Does anyone around here actually fight with Command and Control on? I used to jack around with it, would be interested in a match unless the consensus is that it's nigh unplayable. From what I recall, it can border on nigh unplayable with low-experience troops.

CC on is the only way I like to play SPWAW but it is nearly immpossible to find someone else who uses it.

Having riled up half of Eurasia, I'm overbooked these days, but SP bimbo that I am can never say "no." If you'd like, send me an e-mail proposing a smallish to medium engagement. I'd ask that the first one be "off the books" while I oversteer through the learning curve. I remember just enough to remember how tricky it is.

I'd play all my battles CC on if possible. There is a few players who use it.
